Football Finale

The Football Finale is the pinnacle of the Varsity Series, where we will hopefully cement our victory over our local rivals. This year it is at the Olympic Stadium, the Ricoh!

Over the past couple of years, Men's football have undergone a remarkable transformation. The club who've always had a bit of star quality but lacked a certain amount of bite have now added that much needed steel to their performances. Pushing for back to back promotions, this Warwick side could find themselves in the premier division next season, which would see them become possibly the most successful Men’s football team in the university’s history. Coventry should be shaking in their boots as this year Warwick mean business and after a disappointing, albeit successful 0-0 varsity result last year (Warwick won on penalties) the team will be striving to show Coventry who really sits on the football thrown around these parts and the Ricoh Arena will provide an electrifying stage on which the battle for pride can be fought.

Held on the final Wednesday of term 2, the football finale features the 1st team football matches in front of a crowd of thousands. The Ladies Football fixture kicks off at 5.30PM, while the last fixture to be played is the Mens Football match, kicking off at 7.45PM. Both teams are hopeful of victory, and the men have already started putting in the extra training effort to ensure they dominate Coventry in front of an expectant crowd.

Netball and Basketball - Monday 27th February

Our second event in the Varsity XII series is the clash of the Basketball and Netball teams, with a cameo appearance from CMD during the interval as they have a dance off with their equivalents from our local rivals.

With a recent victory in the bag over Coventry 1st team, our Basketball 1st's will be hoping to replicate this victory on the Varsity stage!

Hockey and Varsity POP! - Wednesday 7th March

Having never lost a varsity point men's hockey are as close to that sure thing that is so difficult to find on nights out. Recent matches have been action packed goal-fests so there will be no shortage of entertainment especially as leading striker Harry Wilson and captain Mark Bridger vie for the club's golden stick award. Coventry usually bring a huge following so we would love all the additional support we can get. With the ladies club playing right before us hockey will be putting on a show that is not to be missed!

Events take place at Westwood and Westwood Heath.

Varsity 2012: Better, Faster, Stronger

Varsity is here: an annual series of matches which pit the best of Warwick against our rivals from Coventry University.

We've not lost to our local rivals for the past 21 years, but every year the score lines have been edging closer and closer, with Warwick winning 38-32 last year. This year we need all the support we can get as we seek to smash it.
