Deliberate Fire Alarms at SU Events - follow-up statement

Further to our previous statement on the issue, we wish to inform the student body that the individual responsible for deliberately setting off the Fire Alarm at Week 8’s Skool Dayz has now been identified, and appropriate action has been taken against them.

Change100 - opportunities for students with disabilities or long-term health problems

Change100 is a programme of paid summer internships and mentoring, designed to support the career development of talented university students who define as having a disability or long-term health condition.

SU statement on Rugby Club sanctions

A few weeks ago, the Students’ Union received a number of complaints from students and members of the public relating to the Rugby Club’s recent ‘adoption’ ceremony. As there have been various rumours surrounding these events, we felt it necessary to clarify the subsequent decision and its outcomes more widely to the student body.

Charity Collections temporaily suspended due to logistical issues

Unfortunately, new requests for charity collection support cannot be supported in the remaining weeks of term or in the holiday period - apologies for any inconvenience caused! All pre-planned and agreed-in-advance charity collections before 25th November will be honoured, while charity collections will be resumed in the new term.

‘Cut The Flow’ – Student Water Saving competition

This competition is between different blocks of residences and will run until Wednesday 18th Feburary 2015 (during Go Green Week). The block who reduces their water consumption the most will win a party!

Marking Boycott postponed - update

The SU is pleased to hear that the proposed marking boycott has been temporarily suspended by UCU, pending further negotiations with the pensions provider.
