We know you may be starting to look at housing options for 21/22, but there are three main things we want to let you know – Don’t rush, we’re here to support you, and Housing Day will happen in Jan.
Housing Day Statement
Usually, at this time of year we would be inviting you to attend our Housing Day, where you would have the opportunity to discuss your housing options for 2021/22 with ourselves and Warwick Accommodation. However, this year (like with most things) it’s a little bit different.
We are aware that you may now be starting to look at your housing options for the academic year 2021/22, but there are three main things we want to let you know:
- There is no rush – You should not rush to sign a contract before Christmas. There are plenty of housing options available within Coventry, Leamington and Kenilworth, and you should always ensure you do the following before signing a contract;
- Get to know the people you will be living with if applying as a group
- Get to know the area you are planning to live in
- Get to know your landlord
- Get the right property for you
- Get advice before you sign a contract
- We are here for you –The Students’ Union Advice Centre is here to support and guide you. From looking over contracts to providing guidance and advice so that you can consider what is right for you, we have the support you need. https://www.warwicksu.com/help-support/housing/
- Housing Day will take place in January 2021 - This will be later than usual, and it will be a virtual event, but it is still going ahead! Our Housing Day event will give you the chance to discuss any concerns or queries you may have along with your peers. We’re confident that there will still be plenty of housing options available for you at this time.
In future, Warwick Accommodation will be providing students with the opportunity of finding accommodation off campus via their new landlord advertising platform. This new service is currently being developed and they aim to have it in place in Term 3. Any properties listed with them on the new platform will be vetted for their safety, suitability and appropriateness for our student community, and we look forward to sharing more information with you in due course.
