As many of you will remember, it can be a nerve-wracking experience coming to University for the first time - that’s why the Students’ Union enlists the help of hundreds of helpers each year to make sure that Freshers and their families receive a friendly and helpful welcome to campus from people who understand their concerns and can answer their questions.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to help out over the Freshers period and can spare enough time to commit to several shifts of 2, 4 or 5 hours, then we want you to help us! You will need to be knowledgeable about the Union, Halls of Residence and campus life, and you must have a friendly personality.
It will be hard work and require commitment & reliability, but most of all it will be fun and you will get to meet loads of new people.
In return, you will be paid £7.20 per hour and will be provided with a T-Shirt. There will be a half hour compulsory information session for you to attend on Wednesday 28th of September 2016 which will be paid to ensure you are equipped with all the information you need to carry out the role and there will be the opportunity to sign up for shifts
You will need to be available during the following week (Saturday 1st October to Thursday 6th October 2016) to do the shifts as required. Have a chat to your friends and get them involved as well – this is a chance to give something back and make a real difference to the lives of new students!
Compulsory Information Session: Wednesday 28th September 2016 (You must be available to attend on this date) - This will be a half hour slot which is to be confirmed but will be between 12pm – 2pm
Shifts: Saturday 1st of October to Thursday 6th October 2016, (Blocks of 2, 4 or 5 hours)
Pay: £7.20 per hour
In order for you to be ready to commence employment in September, you will need to complete new starter paperwork (which we will email you after signing up) and provide suitable ID to prove you are eligible to work in the UK. Wednesday 25th May 2016 - 1pm–2pm

The only suitable forms of ID accepted are a Passport (with Visa if applicable), National Identity Card, or a FULL Birth Certificate (must include your parents’ names) accompanied by a document confirming your National Insurance Number (We will need to see all original documents in addition to you providing photocopies for our records). Failure to complete any of the paperwork or provide suitable ID at any of these dates will result in you not being able to work for the SU.
