International Womens Week: Intersectionality & Barriers to Equity: Panel and Q&A

Event from SU Campaigns & Communities

Wednesday 08 March 2023, 4.30PM - Wednesday 08 March 2023, 6.00PM

FAB2.31

What does intersectionality mean? What’s the difference between Equity and Equality? How can we make sure that all women’s voices are heard? Is representation really important? We’ll be discussing the big questions with our panel of women of colour. Acknowledging the layers of identity and oppression that build upon each other helps us understand how everyone’s lived experiences are completely different, even though they may belong to the same gender, race or religion. Each aspect of our identities needs to be seen. This panel will help us broaden our understanding of what feminism is, in a global context.
