Warwick STAR with their Conversation Club
"STAR Conversation Club is designed to teach refugees and asylum seekers English in a fun and informal way. We are currently running this in a virtual format, with pre-recorded as well as live-streamed sessions, and are hoping to get back to in-person volunteering as soon as is safe."
Disabled Students' Officer, Isabelle with the accessible facilities project
"Deep in the SU servers lies an accessible facilities guides for societies and clubs that hasn’t been updated in many years. To enable disabled students to experience the social side of university equally, this guide needs updating to reflect what’s on offer locally."
Warwick STAR with their Homework Club
"STAR's Homework Club helps young refugees in schools locally, aiding with their English language skills and providing help with their schoolwork. This year should be a hybrid of in-person and virtual sessions."
Warwick SU's sexual health educators programme
"Sex education within schools often leaves a lot to be desired, so last year we established a peer sexual health education programme. Our peer sexual health educators support sex education and sexual health projects at Warwick, including running sexual health drop-in sessions where students can access sexual health testing and free safer sex materials."
Warwick Marrow
"We are Warwick Marrow, a student-led branch of the charity Anthony Nolan. Our volunteers help sign people up to the stem cell register and save the lives of those with leukaemia and other blood disorders."
Ethnic Minorities Officer, Rachel with the Black Liberation Project
"The Black Liberation Project is a forum on all things Black - where Black students can find a range of resources pertaining to Black liberation. The BLP is student-run with the link between the SU and the student body will be maintained by BLP Reps."
Warwick Nightline
"Nightline is a completely confidential, non-judgemental, and non-advisory listening service that is run by students for students. We also offer free products such as condoms, pregnancy tests and sanitary towels to anyone who needs it. If you are interested in volunteering with us, we can train you to be a more empathetic listener during one of our training weekends, which you can find more details of on our social media pages."
queer/disrupt
"queer/disrupt is an exciting group that has grown exponentially in the past year. We are based at the Uni, and we look at all things queer. We make queer topics accessible for all, and we need help getting our voices heard. We're looking for a marketing volunteer for a few hours a week.
