Come see Footloose presented on 35mm film on the big screen in L3!

Everyone knows the Kenny Loggins song from this, right?

One of those films (The Greatest Showman, anybody?) that, like clockwork, the stuffier critics turn their noses up at only to have to eat their words when it becomes one of the defining films of a generation. I defy anybody not entirely dead inside not to be bopping their head along to this one as the credits roll.

I could tell you about the young-free-spirit-clashes-with-religious-fundamentalist-orthodoxy plot and the virtuoso performances (probably why Latin and Ballroom asked us to show this in the first place), but really you only need to know two things: one, it has Kevin Bacon and, two, it has the honour of having a rubbish 2011 remake, ultimately proving that lightning doesn’t strike twice. We’ll be showing an original 39-year-old 35mm film print from the Paramount vaults, too, so that’ll be worth the price of admission alone.
