Warwick Student Cinema: Notting Hill

Event from Warwick Student Cinema

Tuesday 18 January 2022, 7.30PM - Tuesday 18 January 2022, 9.30PM

L3, Science Concourse

Come see Notting Hill presented on 35mm film on the big screen in L3!

The writer of ‘Four Weddings’ ( Richard Curtis ) and star ( Hugh Grant ) are back for this so called follow up. Hugh Grant plays ‘William Thacker’ - owner of a small and fairly unsuccessful book store in London’s Notting Hill which specialises in Travel Books. He lives in a nearby house with Spike (Rhys Ifans). The external shots of the house are from Richard Curtis’ former house in Notting Hill.

The story unfolds when Anna Scott ( Julia Roberts ) - the worlds most famous film star - walks into the book store. She’s in London promoting her latest film. Later, Thacker bumps into her by mistake and empties a cup of orange juice down her front. He takes her back to his house so that she can change and the two begin to get to know one another. The two soon start dating and she stops overnight to avoid the press back at the Hotel. Her boyfriend Alec Baldwin soon turns up at her Hotel room, and the relationship between her and Thacker is off.

A great supporting cast form Thackers close friends whom give him buckets full of advice to guide him through the film. Mean while, Scott dumps Baldwin and turns up on his doorstep again. The relationship is on-off until he sends her packing because he can’t deal with the unsteady relationship. Thackers friends rally round to hear his sorry story and he soon realises the error of his ways.......

This is a great film - so why not come and see it at WSC?
