Reshaping Sport - Women's Week Self Defence Session

Event from Entertainments

Wednesday 07 March 2018, 3.00PM - Wednesday 07 March 2018, 4.30PM

Main Hall, Sports Centre

During International Women's Week, Reshaping Sport presents a special Self-Defence Session which is open to all self-identifying female students.

What to expect from the session: learn how to defend yourself from a variety of strikes, grabs and pins - this will involve self-defence while stood up, as well as being pinned to the floor. The session is aimed at total beginners and nobody will be forced to do anything they don't feel comfortable with, so this is a great chance to get a bit more confidence in your ability to defend yourself should the situation arise! We will also discuss the legal implications of using self-defence, as well as some basic ideas that will help in all potentially dangerous situations.

The session will involve light to medium contact.

What to wear: (sports) clothes that allow unrestricted movement, bearing in mind that whatever top is worn may be grabbed/pulled as part of the seminar.

Book online through the Warwick Sport system - link coming soon!
