Following on from the chaos of week 1, here’s what everyone’s up to this week!
Black History Month
Next up in this year’s amazing Black History Month programme is Is Politically Black Still A Thing? on Monday, and Black Nationalism & Intersectionality on Wednesday. If you can’t make either of these, there are still plenty of events to check out!
Warwick’s Prevent conference is this Saturday! Join us as we ask and discuss three questions about the Prevent counter-terrorism duty for Higher Education: What do we know? What do we think? What can we do?
Warwick SU presents an alternative tour of campus this Saturday intertwined with a day of talks from liberation and campaigning societies at Warwick. Lunch will be provided by the Allotment and Food Co-op, and we will end in the Graduate with a speech from National Union of Students officer Shelly Asquith! Check out the full programme here!
Coming Out Day
Tuesday was Coming Out Day, and to mark the occasion Warwick Pride has shared a number of students’ coming out stories from their Facebook page. They cover the breadth of the LGBTUA+ acronym, so when you get a minute check them out!
Join our Campaigning Societies
The best way to keep up to speed with what’s going on with each of our brilliant campaigning societies is to become a member of them. You can find our lists of campaigning and welfare, charity, and action societies on the SU website.
Are You OK?
This week the SU launched its new Are You OK? campaign, encouraging people to talk about mental health more. Check out this short video from the SU’s sabbatical officer team, centred around this month’s theme of transition.
If you’re planning to run a campaign of your own this year and you need extra funds, the SU Development Exec will be accepting applications to our £3,000 Campaigns Fund! The first round of funding bids closes on Monday week 4.
Give a Spit!
If you’re interested in volunteering with Warwick Marrow this year, helping to sign people up to the bone marrow register, sign yourself up for one of their volunteer training sessions!
If you have any campaigns actions for week 3, email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
