Trustees
The Trustee Board is made up of:

Sabbatical Officer Trustees – all of the 7 sabbatical Officers are Trustees of Warwick Students' Union

Student Trustees – There are up to 6 Trustees of the SU that are Warwick students (not Sabbatical Officers, student staff or members of Elections Group). These are appointed by the Board and Union Council

Lay Trustees - There are up to 5 external non student members of the Board. These are also appointed by the Board and Union Council
The President of Warwick SU is the Chair of the Board of Trustees.

Judy Ryder
Judy has spent nine years as an Executive Director of Organisational Development with Whitefriars Housing Group Ltd. She has significant experience in HR and other senior leadership roles as the Personnel Manager for Coventry City Council’s Housing & Environmental Services division.
She has recently taken early retirement and is willing to devote the necessary time to Warwick SU through this role. She has shown a great understanding of and commitment to young people and is committed to the organisational values of this Students’ Union.
Her capacity to think creatively and articulate ideas has been demonstrated through the development of an award winning apprentice scheme within Whitefriars. She understands and accepts the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, and has experience in many third sector organisations as an employee and as a volunteer. In addition she has considerable experience in the field of voluntary and community activity, particularly through the Princes Trust. Her knowledge of local businesses and the public sector community in which Warwick SU operates was excellent.
She has links with the University having lived in the local community for the last 16 years, regularly visiting the various venues and outlets on campus.
Tom Smeaton
Previously Director/Chairman of number of companies including National Sports Medicine Institute, Leicester City Football Club, and JJ Churchill Ltd. He has expertise in fund raising having perviously worked as fund raising Director for Lord Attenborough Centre for Disability and the Arts, and raising funds for new main stand at LCFC. Spent time as interim Executive Director with several companies in the construction industry in the commercial, health and education sectors. Now concentrating on Chairman/Non Executive Director roles in consulting, education and conference presentation.
James Hunt
James has spent the last six years as Director of Finance at Leicester University, he retired in January 2012, prior to this he spent 16 years at Warwick University as Finance Director and Deputy Finance Director.
James was also employed by Coventry City Council for 15 years, and was an Economist for the Government of Botswana (Overseas Development Institute) for 2 years.
He has volunteering experience as a member of the Audit Committee at The Royal Society, and is a Trustee of The Royal Society Pension Scheme.
James is a highly experienced finance professional in the University sector with significant audit and pension scheme expertise.
Emma Cox
Emma is currently employed as Executive Director (Customer Services) at the Chartered Quality Institute.
Her previous employment history includes Director of Membership Development at NUS (4 years), Head of English Regions – Diabetes UK (6 years) and Head of Organisational Development – Campaign for Protection of Rural England (6 years).
Emma has volunteering experience with Greenpeace, and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.
Emma is experienced in governance and implementing appropriate governance structures.
