The Students’ Union is the focal point of campus life here at Warwick, but what exactly is it that makes your Union so unique? Here are a few basic facts about who we are and what we do…

 

Warwick SU is a charity. Upon enrolling at Warwick, every student automatically becomes a member of the Students’ Union. We exist solely to provide services for our members – that means every single one of you!
 

Warwick SU and Warwick University are completely separate entities. Although we receive an annual grant from the University and work closely with them, we are an independent organisation which is here to represent your interests on a local, regional and national level.

Warwick SU is a self-run, self-sustaining operation – all the revenue we bring in gets divided up between different areas of the organisation to ensure that we’re able to provide a wealth of services for the student body.

Warwick SU runs nightclub events, bars and food outlets in order to fund student activities. These include…

• Democracy
• Academic representation
• Campaigning: local, regional and national
• Opportunities: jobs & volunteering
• Student Advice Centre
• Nearly 300 sports clubs and student societies!

Warwick SU does not make a profit. Any surplus revenue generated goes back into the pot to fund student activities!

• Café Xanana
• The Dirty Duck
• The Bread Oven
• Curiositea

Any money spent in these outlets goes directly back towards student activities.

Warwick SU is NOT linked to:

• The Arts Centre
• Costcutter
• Varsity
• Library Café
• Rootes Bar
• Rootes Restaurant
• Costa
• The Uni Express

Any money spent in these outlets goes to either the University or the respective companies involved.

Warwick SU is here for YOU. The more you support the Union during your time here at University, the more it will give you in return. Remember: every penny you spend in Warwick S.U. – whether it’s on food, drink, societies or nightlife – directly benefits you!

Did you know…

• Last year we squeezed 75,000 oranges for fresh O.J.
• We prepared 67,000 baguettes
• We held over 200 different events in the SU building
• We employed over 200 student staff
• Our Student Advice Centre handled over 6200 cases
• Nearly 5000 of you voted in the Officer Elections
• We poured 60,000 pints of Purple
• We served 84,000 shots of Vodka.
