This is a more detailed description of what the committee does:
EVENTS The Committee assists with the organisation and running of Warwick Sport events including: Sports Fair, Festival of Sport, Sports Week, Warwick World Cup, Sports Ball and a Rise Against Racism event.
LEAGUES The Committee coordinates and promotes the Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday Football leagues, the Sunday Netball league, the Summer Cricket league, and any other leagues the Committee wishes to run.
CHALLENGES The Committee organizes and promotes challenges e.g. the Superstars and Anti-Superstars Challenges.
COMMUNICATION The Committee promotes Warwick Sport and Committee activities to the student population, local media and external bodies. This includes, but is not limited to, providing updates for the website, producing a regular newsletter and promoting sponsors.
TASTERS The Committee promotes ‘Sport For All’ and this includes working with Warwick Sport clubs, most prominently the “Pick and Mix” club, to promote ‘taster’ sessions.
FINANCE The Committee is funded by Warwick Sport and/ or KPMG sponsorship, assists clubs in seeking sponsorship, and allocates limited additional funding through the Opportunities Fund.
SPORTS COUNCIL The Committee attends this event once a term as a
communication and information tool. All clubs are
represented at this event.
MEMBERSHIP The Committee works to ensure all participants of club activity are Warwick Sport members.
NEW CLUBS The Committee shall offer advice to individuals wishing to start a new club and recommend to the Warwick Sport Management Group that the club be recognised when the proposal is of a suitable standard.
CLUB DISPUTES The Committee is able to make recommendations and pass resolutions to solve internal club disputes.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS The Committee shall receive applications for Associate Memberships to Warwick Sport Clubs and will recommend those suitable to the Warwick Sport Management Group for acceptance.
AWARDS The Committee shall annually conduct a fair process by which awards can be presented to sports clubs in recognition of their achievements over the past year.
POINT OF CONTACT Each member of the Committee shall be assigned a number of clubs to act as a “point of contact” should any club require information from or communication with the Committee.
APPENDIX AND REGULATIONS The Committee annually makes recommendations to Union Council to amend the Sports Appendix of the Constitution and other appropriate regulations.
