Rowing Sports Club

The University of Warwick Boat Club is a large and highly active sports club with substantial ambitions. This year the club is attending 20 races across the length and breadth of the country during a 40-week season.

Whether novice or experienced, male or female, as a member of UWBC, athletes can expect to participate in a well organised rowing programme.

Our senior training programme offers rowers the opportunity to continue to compete at a high level and in fast, powerful crews. Experienced rowers at Warwick can expect several water sessions each week backed by a comprehensive range of other activities, such as core stability, weights, running and ergo sessions.

The novice training programme, which is open to all Warwick students, offers a comprehensive introduction to the art of rowing. From as early in the academic year as November, novices are invited to demonstrate their new talent at competitions across the country.

Our Recreational Squad, new for 2023/24 offers competent rowers the opportunity to scull once a week alongside a relaxed erg programme.

The coxing programme offers the opportunity to navigate and motivate crews in training and in competition. No prior experience is required, you will be taught all of the skills necessary to become a quality cox. Coxes have the unique opportunity to enjoy the competitive perks of being in a high performing sports club, without having to meet any fitness requirements.

Our squads, who benefit from regular technical advice and video feedback sessions, have shown some excellent performances over the past few years at a range of competitions, from regional to national level.

The club continues to excel, year on year, with wins at Kingston Head, Wallingford Head, Bedford Regatta, Notts City Regatta and more. Many of the club records have been broken in the past year as the club gets stronger and stronger.
