Joining Instructions
As well as joining the society, you may also choose to join St John Ambulance. This lets you volunteer at events to give First Aid and access more training. To join SJA, please follow the steps below:
1. Attend the weekly Warwick LINKS meetings on a Tuesday night.
2. Then you need to come along to have an interview, which we will give on Tuesdays at the weekly meeting. The interview is short and informal – just a chance to know what you want from your SJA experience and what we can offer you. We will give you the joining pack and talk you through it, including two reference forms which you need to send off to two people who have known you for 5 and 3 years.
3. You will also need to complete a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check in order to volunteer. These are necessary to become an SJA member and we must see original copies of the following documents:
- passport (and your visa if it isn’t a British passport)
- driving licence – if you have one we must see both the paper and card parts
- National Insurance number – from the card or a payslip
- full address history for the past 5 years
- other proofs of address (bank/student finance statements etc) – take as many as possible to be sure!
If you have any queries, please email chair@warwicklinks.sja.org.uk
4. Once you’ve handed or posted in your joining pack; we’ve received your references and your CRB has been approved it should only take a couple of weeks for your membership to be confirmed. You’ll receive weekly emails updating you on the status of your application.
