SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) is a global non-profit organization active in more than 40 countries and over 1800 universities. Dedicated to nurturing the entrepreneurial skills of university students in a way that is both effective in developing their future careers and meaningful to the community, SIFE aims to develop community outreach projects that follow the five principles of SIFE:

 

SIFE aims to create economic opportunity within the local community and beyond. It strives to aid those who need economic help, whether a struggling business, a disadvantaged member of society or those in local education seeking guidance and advice regarding their futures.

 

What Projects Do We Run?

 

This year we have 9 projects running:

Business Projects

 

 

SIFE Warwick Consulting - helping out local struggling businesses along with our 12 man strong advisory board - consulting@sifewarwick.org.uk

Commercial Success - running basic business sessions to improve Warwick students' commercial awareness-  commercialsuccess@sifewarwick.org.uk

Mission Mexico - aims "To provide refuge and hope to orphaned, abandoned, abused and disadvantaged children by giving them a home, family, love, education and opportunities for advancement in all areas of their lives"; SIFE Warwick will be acting in a consulting role, helping with funding, promote the mission and advance on use of funds - missionmexico@sifewarwick.org.uk

Education Projects 

 

National Citizen Service - a government led initiative, giving mentoring support to young children, teaching them about community work and guiding them in how to set up their own mini-SIFE projects - ncs@sifewarwick.org.uk

Fair Enterprise - teaching youths about fair trade and entrepreneurship via a tuck shop and dragon's den competition - fairenterprise@sifewarwick.org.uk

Creativity Projects

 

Recipes for Relief - running cooking classes with groups of refugees to help their communication skills and integration in to community - recipesforrelief@sifewarwick.org.uk

Art In Motion - running C.V. workshops with youths under Anti-social behaviour orders and improving their prospects - Interested in leading this project? contact - president@sifewarwick.org.uk

Environmental Projects 

 

International project Re-creation - developing a recycling initiative to tackle the huge masses of waste in Kenya's streets - Position of project leader available. Interested in leading this project? contact - president@sifewarwick.org.uk

Commercial Projects

Hoddies - We will be the middleman to sell hoodies for various sports clubs and societies on campus. This will be commercial project used to fund our society and help to achieve long term sustainability - hoodaid@sifewarwick.org.uk

 

Krispy Kreme - Sell donuts to students in their halls of residences to raise money for social projects - krispykreme@sifewarwick.org.uk

 

Sport Events - Holds sports events for companies to raise money for our social projects. At the first stage, we will hold a football tournament between 4 companies, raising £1200 - sportsevents@sifewarwick.org.uk

 

What Does a Project Involve?

All the projects run within the Warwick SIFE team are led solely by students, and as such, you will have the opportunity for a significant degree of responsibility from an early stage. This responsibility is very rewarding and, although there is a need for time commitment, you are in charge of your own time and so can work around other obligations as it suits you. 

What Will I Gain From SIFE?

By getting involved with SIFE you will learn valuable skills, transferrable across degree disciplines and careers. You will expand your knowledge within the key areas of SIFE as mentioned above.

 

Also, employers today are looking for more than just an academic with a good degree. They want breadth and something to single you out from the rest of the crowd. SIFE is exactly what they are looking for. Not only does it make your CV distinguishable, it also gives it a competitive edge. With its high profile sponsors and strategic partners, SIFE is an extremely well recognised and respected organisation. Being part of a university team providing opportunities to those who may otherwise struggle says a lot about your character and demonstrates to employers that you are exactly the sort of person they want to employ.
