Warwick has over 7000 Postgrads who are an integral part of University and Campus life. At the Union we are committed to create more of a Postgraduate Community through work with the Postgraduate Society and Postgraduate Committee.

The Postgraduate Society is the best way to meet new people at Warwick, and the main source of social life for postgraduates.

The Society organizes weekly socials (Tuesday 8pm at various local pubs), regular parties, and trips across the UK.

If you are a new student you should join the society just before coming to Warwick, to ensure that you know what is going in the first few weeks. If you are an existing student, you can join at any time, and there are new members at events all year round.

The society works really hard to make new members feel welcome to the first events they attend and to encourage new members to get to know other people in the society.

Joining the Postgraduate Society costs just £2.50 for 1 year, £4.00 for 2 years, or £5.00 for 3 years. As soon as you have joined you will receive weekly e-mails about all events, and substantial discounts for every event.

Any questions at all, e-mail us on su387@sunion.warwick.ac.uk

The Grad Deck

Wed 18 Nov 2009

This one seems to have gone unnoticed, there is a place called the "Grad Deck" on campus, which grad students can book (free of charge) for group meetings/events/parties it seems. Looks very nice too!

Check out http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/studentsupport/graddeck/, where you will find details of how to book and so on.  It says there is a capacity of 50, and that there are self catering facilities available.  Nice!

How to join

Joining takes less than a minute and costs £2.50 for a year, just follow the steps below.

  • Log in using the box at the top right using your university number. (if you haven’t used the Students' Union website before you will need to register first).
  • Now you are logged in, below you will see the membership options. If you are a warwick university student (defined as posessing a student library card) then select Standard Membership and "add to basket" for the duration you wish to be a member of the Postgraduate Society. If you are not a warwick university student then you should select Associate Membership (practically there is little difference between the options.) The one/two/three year membership is active from the day you join and not dependent on the academic year.
  • At the top of the page you will see your "Basket", which if you click will show you your Postgraduate Society Standard Membership with the duration of your choice. Select "Proceed to Checkout". Type in your card number and then select the "Pay Now" button. Welcome to the Postgraduate Society!

We are exempt from the Societies Federation fee so membership will only cost £2.50. Members get regular emails about all of our events, and normally get discounts (worth more than £2.50).
