Warwick historySoc is for everyone who studies, or is generally interested in, anything Historical at Warwick Uni. Our society is for laughs, support and banter, but also for academic and career advancement in the scary big wide world!
Becoming a member is a fantastic way of meeting and networking with your fellow Historians in all year groups.
SOCIALS
*We provide regular socials ranging from themed bar crawls around Leamington and popular film showings on campus, to fun and traditional historical excursions including our very own Warwick Castle!
*We also hold our annual themed History Ball - previous Balls have been set in glamorous 1920s Chicago and the spectacular Moulin Rouge.
*The History Trip has visited Amsterdam, Budapest and many other places, and so gives students a brilliant chance to explore different countries, cultures and histories in a social setting. These events are tremendously popular so ensure you buy your tickets quickly – the 2010 Ball sold out in four days leaving many disappointed.
SPORTS
*Our football and mixed netball teams also compete with other societies and groups in university matches, giving great reasons to celebrate on the bar crawls! See our Sports Officer at the Societies Fair for more info on how to sign up....
SUPPORT
*The society also supports students during their time at the university. All History students are encouraged to join our Mentoring Scheme, where each fresher is allocated a mentor from an older year group. Your mentor helps you with any queries or problems, whether they are personal or academic related. If you wish to participate in the scheme please email the Academic & Welfare Officer at exec@historysoc.co.uk.
SPEAKERS
*We bring in specialist historians to hold talks and discussions, allowing a more detailed insight into various topics. These events may be relevant to your modules and useful to your degree, or are perhaps something that you are generally interested in.
