Health and Safety

This page contains all the Health and Safety information you will need to know to carry out your society activities.

The President has two key responsibilities in this area (unless another exec member is designated):
  • Attend the Duty of Care Impact Training course to learn the responsibilities for the safety of your members when they are carrying out society activities
  • Ensure that the society is carrying out the appropriate safety checks and enacting everything written on the society risk assessment (see also the society risk assessments page).

Accident Reporting

If an accident or a near miss happens during a society activity, help us to help societies to avoid something similar in future, and fill in the appropriate form hand it into the Resources Room as soon as possible after. If you are going on a Tour, carry copies of the forms with you in your First Aid kit so you can do them immediately.

Near Miss Form

An incident/near miss is an event or condition that doesn’t cause harm but has the potential to do so. It's your responsibility to help prevent something more serious happening in the future.

All the forms are also available from the Resources Room, and you should hand them in to the Resources Room staff when complete.
