Started last year by the Greens Food Co-Op, the campus community veg garden project is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to come along to group events as and when organised to have a go at growing their own food.
We hold activities on most Wednesday afternoons and some weekends, and welcome volunteers to get involved outside of these planned times to work on any areas that need attention, such as weeding and watering etc. As the project is being run as a community garden, the end produce will be shared out between all the volunteers and any remaining produce would be sold/used for group cooking events. This means we cannot allocated individuals specific plots, but if someone is interested in doing something different we can try and help with setting aside some of the plot, so long as the whole ‘community’ can get involved.
Do don’t need any experience to get involved, just enthusiasm and some free time. You don’t need to commit to spending any amount of time on the plot, just come along when ever you are free and enjoy the benefits of the freshest produce available!
Although we are not currently aiming for organic status, we are using organic and low impact methods as much as possible. If you have any questions about who we are and what we do, send us an email to the address below
