2011-2012
There are three things in life German Society loves.
1. Banter
2. Deutschland
3. Banter
Although listed as an academic society, German soc is here to provide an escape from your studies. German soc gives you the opportunity to get to know your fellow course-mates as well as anyone who's vaguely interested in all things German. We have loads of people doing totally different varieties of German courses, as well as people not studying Deutsch at all, who just love a bit of the old German soc atmosphere.
German soc's primary activity is socials. We have many exciting activities throughout the year, including bar-crawls, quiz nights, a trip to the German Christmas market in Birmingham, Fancy Dress competitions etc. The highlight of the German calendar (well perhaps not the entire German calendar, but ours fo' show) is our annual trip to Germany in February which is always really popular and provides year-long banter and life-long friends. We cannot reccommend this trip more, especially for Freshers, you will see your new coursemates, and course, in that order, in a whole new light.
We pride ourselves on being a really friendly, welcoming and fun-loving society and are very much looking forward to meeting all our new members, freshers and fourth years alike. Don't let it's academic listing put you off, what better way to get to know those you'll be living with in year 4, than to prance about in fancy dress with in year 1?
All news of socials is posted on our Facebook page but come along and visit us at Freshers Fair to sign up so you don't miss out. We'll be the ones with the dirndls and Wurst...
