Warwick Action for Palestine

Hello! Welcome to Warwick Action for Palestine Society, everyone is welcome to join. We are a group of Warwick University student activists who believe in Palestinian liberation through political education, working in solidarity with other struggles on campus and taking direct action.

As the official Palestinian society at the University of Warwick, there is a lot for us to do!

  • We advocate and work towards enacting BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement) at our institution, and pressuring the university to cut all ties with Israeli apartheid.
  • We hold events and discussions on Palestinian, decolonial and anti-racist history, politics and culture.
  • We also aim to create a relaxed, safe environment for Palestinians and those in struggle with us. We will be holding regular socials and community building events where there will also be opportunities to celebrate Palestinian music, culture and food.

Most importantly, we aim to envision and create a world free of oppression, and full of love, through our work and the relationships we build with each other. This also means that we do not tolerate any forms of bigotry in our spaces. Our politics are informed by a range of radical traditions that understand forms of oppression and exploitation, such as racism(s), gender inequality, ableism, queerphobia and (global) poverty, as overlapping and intrinsically linked. As an exec, we aim to provide a safe space for all of our members. We want everyone to feel welcome and safe from bigotry. This does not mean that members will not be challenged, or that there is no room for debate and critique (rather, we aim to constantly be reflective and self-critical), but it does mean that we expect members to challenge or argue appropriately. Anyone expressing discriminatory views will be asked to leave our spaces.

“We can not fight for our rights and our history as well as future until we are armed with weapons of criticism and dedicated consciousness.” -Edward Said
