About China in Focus

We are an academic society which focus on contemporary and historical issues concerning China, covering topics such as its economic development, governmental structure, political beliefs, ethnic issues, business culture, religious life, education, health care and its popular culture. We are most interested in the emergence of modern China, and its impact on the world.

We have the ambition to provide people from any nation who are interested in China an unbiased platform where they can learn more about China and have the opportunity to exchange their ideas with others on issues related to the country. Through various activities including talks, debates, forums, exhibitions, corporate case studies etc., we hope to realise our aim and promote understanding between people from inside and outside of China. Scholars from UK and the rest of the world are invited on a regular basis to give their professional opinion on the topics mentioned and facilitate the exchange of ideas.
 
We strive to promote equal opportunities by conducting our society activities in English at all times and to invite as diverse a population as possible to join our society. All members of the society, regardless of their gender, age, race, or language, shall have equal opportunities in participating in our activities. Executive committee members shall also take these matters into account at all times when making decisions.

We invite speakers from universities and NGOs from UK and the rest of the world on a regular basis to share their insights on Chinese issues with our members.

Interested in exploring some of the best Chinese restaurants in Coventry with us? You've got it! Enjoy a relaxing night out and meet new friends. Event usually held straight after a talk or discussion.

THE China Quiz*

Think you know much about China? Prove it in our quiz! Come with your friends and win cash or book token prizes. Complementary snacks and beverages are served. A small entrance fee is chargeable.

THE China Forum*

China in Focus is glad to announce the first ever academic forum on Chinese issues in the University of Warwick. 12 speakers, 20 minutes each, 1 forum. Can you handle the truth?

THE China Tour**

Never been to China before? Like to tour around your own country with friends? China in Focus is planning a one week Easter Tour to various cities in China. Ask an exec member for further information.
