..WELCOME TO TAPFACTORY..
ABOUT US...
We're the Arts Publication Society and we publish Tapfactory, a termly arts magazine showcasing the very best of Warwick's prose, poetry, art, photography and feature writing. We welcome submissions from everyone and anyone at Warwick, regardless of whether you study English or Engineering, or if you have had any experience with this kinda thing before. So if you've ever wanted to see your creative work in print and read by lots of people, here's your opportunity!
Even more excitingly, we offer chances to involve yourself in every aspect of the magazine-making process: design and layout, publicity, distribution, editorial decision-making etc. How Tapfactory looks, what it includes, what it accomplishes and how it is all put together – these are all issues to discuss, debate and get involved with. Perfect if you fancy a career in publishing or media later in life, or just think it sounds like fun!
We're a very social society, holding regular meetings, socials and nights out in the surrounding area (a meal in Leamington in the early weeks of this term and a boogie in Birmingham in the later weeks are both currently snaking their way through the pipeline) - a great way to make friends with people with similar interests. We'll also take you to the Tin Angel Open Mic night in Coventry, as well as hosting our own sessions on campus and offering opportunities to exhibit visual work. We've got big plans for our birthday this December, so brace yourself for something eye (and ear)-googling.
Last year - our first! - saw three publications (including a special Warwick Student Arts Festival edition), a prose-writing competition, social outings and a fantastic launch night at the Jug and Jester, with readings and live music. All in all, a very successful start for the magazine, and we are all very excited about even better things this year!
Check out our brand new website - www.tapfactory.org.uk - it's still a little bit in conctruction, but through it we will keep you updated with arty things in the area and details of what we're upto. There is also a forum where you can talk about the society as well as posting your work for peer review. You can also hunt us out on Facebook and any questions can be sent to s.c.morris@warwick.ac.uk.
Look forward to meeting lots of you in a few weeks!
