Here's a few things you might be wondering about our society. If you've got any more questions don't hesitate to e-mail us at warwickjapan@gmail.com.
1. Who are we?
We're a society dedicated to promoting international awareness as well as bringing together Japanese and non-Japanese students. That sounds a little too serious... but at the end of the day this society is all about having fun, whether it be drinking with friends at socials, playing dodgeball, or participating in One World Week, we try and make everything fun!
2. Should I join?
Yes!!! Even if you're not that interested in Japanese culture that's fine! The society is not just about promoting cultural awareness but also about getting to know people. We promise that you'll have a great time with us!
3. I'm not Japanese... is that going to be weird?
Nope, not at all. Actually, more than half of our members are not Japanese... There is a reason why the society is called the "Japan" society, and not "Japanese"; we didn't know to make the society exclusive to Japanese people.
4. What kind of events do you hold?
We're a very flexible bunch so if you do have any suggestions as to what events we should have, let us know. Below are some of the events we've had in the past:
-
Sushi Workshop (everyone's favourite! we teach you how to make sushi)
-
Christmas Socia (last year we went to Cosmo in Coventry)
-
Quiz Competition (how much do you know about Japan?)
-
Karaoke Social (we go down to London everytime for the newest Japanese songs)
-
One World Week (usually we participate in the Fashion show and we perform a traditional Japanese dance called Soranbushi).
Once you join the society, we will keep you informed as to what events we're going to be holding!
We hope that we've given you enough reasons for you to join Japan Society or continue to be part of the society... If you have any questions just e-mail us and we'll get back to you ASAP.
