Warwick SU Societies
Irish Dancing is just one of over 200 societies at Warwick. Find more on the societies homepage.

Classes are open to beginners as well as dancers with previous experience. Beginners start by learning basic technique, while advanced steps are taught to those who have danced before. Primarily softshoe is taught in classes, but there are also regular opportunities to practise hardshoe. All members have the chance to take part in performances and participate in group dances including ceilidh.
During the last year, we have performed in:
• Pizazz ... the university dance show
• the One World Week carnival and after party
• WSAF ... the Warwick Student Arts Festival
• Busta Move ... the inter-university dance competition
• the Societies Awards ceremony
• the Warwick Folk Society’s Christmas Ceilidh
Our exec organise regular socials including meals, after lesson drinks and circles before Pop at the SU on Wednesdays. In the past we have also arranged trips to see shows like Riverdance and organised a campus St Patrick’s Day event.
The 2011-2012 Exec:
• Co-Presidents ... Sophie Davies and Clare Quinlivan
• Events Co-ordinator ... Tamsyn Kelly
• Treasurer ... Louise King
• Secretary ... Becky King
• Costumes Co-ordinator ... Claire Norman
We hold weekly classes at Westwood Dance Studio on Mondays from 7.30 until 9pm. Each class costs £2 and this money is invested into the society for costumes etc. Come along to learn in a relaxed and student-orientated environment, whether you have previous dance experience or are a complete beginner. Irish Dancing is a great way to improve confidence, fitness and posture as well as make lots of new friends!
