Main Purpose of Job: |
Responsible for the creative and visual development, and print ready production of a variety of graphic design projects including posters, flyers, point-of-sale material, publications, logos |

To undertake graphic design projects across a variety of electronic and printed media to support & promote the Union’s commercial and non-commercial services |
Creative flair and vision to interpret design briefs quickly and produce high quality work within agreed and often tight timeframes High standards of accuracy and creativity maintained at all times Work produced to specified deadlines, within agreed budgetary parameters if specified and in line with client expectations Successful interpretation of client needs and ability to formulate and execute appropriate design solutions Communicates effectively, appropriately and in a timely fashion on design issues. Accepts critique openly. Uses industry knowledge & range of appropriate techniques. |

To contribute to the creative process which supports the continuous development of Union services and brands |
Demonstrates sound understanding of all technical aspects of design and print process including the applications of Adobe CS3 Software, more specifically InDesign and rich/interactive media. Be able to self manage projects with little or no supervision. Affinity for and understanding of Students’ Union and youth market |

To ensure the correct application and maintenance of the Union’s corporate identity |
Execute and encourage use within agreed guidelines Provision of advice on usage to internal and external clients Ensure all the artwork (electronic and flat) colour swatches and corporate identity guidelines are readily available |

To adhere to Union policy when designing promotional material or publications |
Keep up to date with policy change and of policy development Ensure policy is understood and implemented |

The above to be carried out with regard to organisational policy on customer care, health and safety, Equal Opportunities and continuous improvement |

ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Experience with Quark Xpress
Experience of Photoshop
