What are our plans?
• i-Q? The Integration Question
We Consult – You have your say
An ambitious collaborative project between the Union and the International Office.
Purpose
Identify the issues and understand the extent of integration
Gain insight into diverse and complex perceptions
Encourage involvement of underrepresented groups
Enable interaction between home and overseas students
• i-CAN! International ‘Community Action Network’
A pilot scheme hopefully funded by UKCISA (UK Council for International Students)
This project aims to facilitate sustainable interaction between home and international students. It is student-led in collaboration with the International Office.
There are two stages to the project: reel in, then reach out. The first stage reels in both home and international students’ perceptions. I-Q? is a consultation on the experience of integration. It involves three steps: an online questionnaire; focus groups for discussion; online forum for further debate.
The second stage reaches out to foster a supportive community network, I-CAN! This is an online forum of opportunities for interaction, a search-and-find database, and interactive map of campus and region.
It will provoke thought on the issues of internationalisation and encourage active community integration. It will benefit both home and international students by fostering a visible ‘global community’, enhancing the international experience of University life.
