What we did: celebrating last year
Campaigns & Policy
We represent international students on issues that affect them. We campaign and stand up for the rights of our students! Here is a list of our policies passed last year:
• Reduce International Student Fees (492)
We campaigned to reduce international student fees at the University. Fees are escalating without any limit or transparency. The Union aims to change this.
• Oriental Food Outlet (665)
We are looking into the feasibility of having a wider range of Oriental food.
• Support International Peace Conference (621)
We send delegates to the International Peace Conference aiming to withdraw the troops from Iraq
• Access to Education – Freedom of Religious Practice (637)
We have equal opportunities for all faith groups and ensure non-discrimination
• Challenging Racism in our Campus and in our Communities (654)
We will ‘Unite Against Fascism’ and Support ‘Rise Against Racism’.
• Multi Faith Working Group (650)
We have set up this group to work on problems and solutions for cross-campus provision for all religious groups. We will lobby the University and publicise meetings and outcomes.
• Prevent Academic Spying on Muslim Students (652)
Our President is mandated to work closely with Universities UK to push Government to produce reasonable guidelines which will promote community cohesion based on ensuring equality, celebrating difference and minimising suspicion.

One World Week
A long list of achievements for the most successful student-led international event in the UK, even the world! Their student volunteers brought in speakers such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Professor John Hume, two Nobel Peace Prize Laureates! Musicians like Fedde le Grand and Nesta Torres played during the festival!
