Elections

The last term has been a bit of a mad one for your Union Officers.

All the guys and gals below have been working their socks off to run your Union and represent your views at every level. It’s fair to say that they’ve already achieved quite a lot in only a short space of time. You can view a short summary of their main achievements below – if you’re curious and want to know more then feel free to get in touch with any of them.

Every one of these Union Officers, both the full time Sabbaticals as well as the Part-Time Officers was elected in a cross-campus ballot in Term 2. The time of this year’s elections is approaching fast (this year it’s in Week 7), and if you want to run for a position the sooner you start thinking about it the better!

Anyone can run for a sabbatical position in Week 7

Part-time Officers

In Week 7 a team of over 30 Part-time Officers will also be elected, who are just as important to the running of the Union as the Sabbatical Officers.

Their roles are extremely diverse, with some focused on campaigning, and other mainly concerned with the internal working of the Union. Managing to balance this level of responsibility with a degree is no easy task!

They are divided up into different groups which are displayed below, along with contact details and the main achievements of the Officers in each group.

Executive Committee Officers

There are 7 part-time Officers who, alongside the Sabbs, make up the Executive Committee.  The Executive Committee is responsible for the implementation of all Union Policy, together with annually approving and amending, as necessary, elections regulations, referendum regulations, disciplinary, procedures, Sabbatical Job Descriptions and Codes of Conduct for each media society.

Main Achievements

  1. Started work on a hidden course costs campaign, and an initiative to stop students from writing in Library books
  2. Work on a future mental health campaign, and working with the Welfare Officer to provide housing advice for Freshers
  3. Planning for a campaign on ID cards next term, in line with the policy opposing their introduction which was passed at Union Council
