As many of you will remember, it can be a nerve-wracking experience coming to University for the first time - that’s why the Students’ Union enlists the help of hundreds of volunteers each year to make sure that Freshers and their families receive a friendly and helpful welcome to campus from people who understand their concerns and can answer their questions.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to help out over the Freshers period and can spare enough time to commit to 4 shifts of up to 4 hours, then we want you to help us!
You will need to be knowledgeable about the Union, Halls of Residence and campus life, and you must have a friendly personality.
It will be hard work and require commitment & reliability, but most of all it will be fun and you will get to meet loads of new people. In return, you will be supplied with training, a T-Shirt and shifts, as well as this year's incentive offer – entry into a prize draw to win a free ticket to the massive Freshers Party in Week 2!
You must be available to start training on Friday 28th September and be free for the remaining week to do shifts as required. Have a chat to your friends and get them involved as well – this is a chance to give something back and make a real difference to the lives of new students! Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that this a voluntary role.
