Exec Resources
There are plenty of ways that the Students' Union can help you publicise your events.
The Website
Your event can have its very own news article just like any of the ones on the homepage of the website, or on the societies homepage.
Just send the text for the article, along with a 540 x 270 pixel picture and a title to james.deane@warwicksu.com
Alternatively, you can set up your own internal article to display to your members when they log in by following these steps:
1) Log into the S.U. website (www.warwicksu.com) and click the ‘Admin’ (cogs) tab;
2) Select your society under ‘Organisations’ (you must be an exec member to do this);
3) Click on ‘News Admin’ and select ‘Add News Article’;
4) Upload all relevant content (images, event description etc) and save.
Note: please make sure the box marked ‘Allow Non-Members to Read’ has been UNTICKED before you save your news article.
The Bubble
You can also get your event listed in the fortnightly Bubble and, if there's space, some of the info from the website article will be put in as well!
If you particularly want your event to be featured, please email details of when and where your event will be held, as well as any other relvant information, to the Communications Coordinator: chris.carter@warwicksu.com.
Copy deadlines for Term 3 are as follows -
Week 1-2 issue: 13th April 2012 (12pm)
Week 3-4 issue: 27th April 2012 (12pm)
Week 5-6 issue: 11th May 2012 (12pm)
Week 7-8 issue: 25th May 2012 (12pm)
Week 9-10 issue: 8th June 2012 (12pm)
Society Event Pages
To set up and edit a society event page on the Students’ Union website, please follow these steps:
1) Log into the S.U. website (www.warwicksu.com) and click the ‘Admin’ (cogs) tab;
2) Select your society under ‘Organisations’ (you must be an exec member to do this);
3) Click on ‘Events’ and select ‘Add New Event’;
4) Upload all relevant content (images, event description etc) and save.
Note: please make sure that the only category boxes ticked during the set-up process are those marked 'Societies' and 'Include in Entertainments Programme'.
Tickets for Society Events
Once you have created your event page, you will need to fill out a separate form if you would like tickets to be added. These are available from (and should be returned to) Chris Carter in the Marketing Department of SUHQ: chris.carter@warwicksu.com.
Alternatively, you can download an e-copy of the form HERE.
Once tickets are on sale, you are able to check how many you have sold by following these steps:
1) Select your society from the ‘Organisations’ list on the Admin drop-down menu;
2) Click on the ‘Sales Report’ icon;
3) Make sure the dates are entered correctly (you may have to back-date the initial
entry and future-date the second);
4) Click on ‘Sales Report’ to get a total of the number of tickets sold;
5) Click on ‘Purchasers Report’ to get a list of people who’ve bought tickets.
Please note that this will ONLY work for tickets that are currently on sale – if you require a final purchasers list, you’ll need to print one out before your tickets go off-sale!
Warwick Student Cinema
Offers publicity opportunities on either the big screen, their LCD screens or in their booklet. They are also happy to host joint screenings if arranged sufficiently far in advance. More information is available here.
The Boar Student Newspaper
Offers full, half and quarter page ads at hugely discounted prices to societies - starting at just £45. Email sales@theboar.org
Additionally if your society has done something noteworthy email
news@theboar.org and have an article published in the paper!
Digital Boards in the SU
£10 per week per network of screens.
The screens are arranged in pairs, with one upstairs and one downstairs
Therefore, the price would be £10 for two of the poster boards, £20 for four, £30 for six and £40 for eight. The landscape TVs are a single network and would be an additional £10.
