SETH LAKEMAN + 6 Day Riot

Seth Lakeman is a British Folk phenomenon. Having been playing music professionally since his teenage years, he has risen from backing performer in The Lakeman Brothers and Equation to a popular solo artist in his own right. Across four superb albums, he has garnered widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, and is widely acknowledged as one of the leading lights of the contemporary British Folk scene.

The multi-instrumentalist’s strength lies in his ability to imbue folk traditions with a radio-friendly modern sensibility. His second album Kitty Jay – recorded for just £300 – was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2005, with his latest LP Poor Man’s Heaven cementing his commercial reputation by charting at #8 in its first week of release. Indeed, his profile has risen considerably in the years following his breakthrough, during which time he has maintained a prolific pace through high-profile tours with the likes of Billy Bragg, Jools Holland, Jethro Tull and the Levellers (who used to bring him up onstage at the end of their set to partake in a ‘fiddle-off’ with the band’s violinist Jon Sevink).

An immensely popular draw at festivals as diverse as Glastonbury, WOMAD, South by Southwest and V, Lakeman’s live show is a rousing celebration of music in its purest form - whether you consider yourself a novice or a folk aficionado, he’s a performer guaranteed to win your heart. With so many of our politicians “on the fiddle” of late, there’s never been a better time to welcome along a man for whom the term has a far more traditional meaning!

Support comes from the triumphantly upbeat indie-folk collective 6 Day Riot, a band described by the NME as "Unashamedly poppy and irrepressibly charming".
