WILD BEASTS

A LIVE NATION UK PRESENTATION.

Packing a truly distinctive signature sound, the weird and wonderful WILD BEASTS are quite different to anyone out there at the moment. Hayden Thorpe’s soaring falsetto whoops and plunges over the kind of chiming atmospherics much beloved of bands like The Maccabees and Southampton’s favourite sons, Delays, but the band's songs are backed up by subtly danceable rhythms (not to mention a devilish sense of humour) which make these particular beasts difficult to sit still to.

Following huge acclaim for their flamboyant debut album Limbo, Panto in 2008, The Sunday Times described their recent LP Two Dancers as “one of the year’s undisputed masterpieces”, slapping an impressive 5/5 rating on the cover and naming it their Album of the Week, while ClashMusic.com gave it a superlative-laden 9/10. Two Dancers has since gone on to place highly in Album of 2009 polls across the board, landing alongside Animal Collective and The XX in HMV's prestigious annual 'Poll of Polls' which counts down the 10 most critically-lauded albums of the year.

Alternately hilarious, OTT, artful and delicate, Wild Beasts are one of the most acclaimed British acts of recent years. Championed by everyone from The Guardian and Steve Lamacq to NME and Pitchfork, they will be setting up shop at The Copper Rooms this March to let their super-lush sounds roam free!

Please note that as this show is being promoted by Live Nation and not the Students' Union, entry is not covered by the Platinum Card.
