Now, you know that we like to spoil you kids sometimes, right? Right. Well, we figured that after all the hard work you’ve put into those naughty essays and exams this term, you deserve a mighty blow-out to celebrate the start of your summer. So in the spirit of all things dance, the legendary End of Term Alternative Party returns in Week 10 for what could possibly be the sexiest line-up, like, everrr!
First up, we’re proud to bring you one of the hottest names in dance music at the moment. Her Friday night show on Radio 1 is an essential guide to the freshest drum n bass, electro, hip-hop, break beat and disco in the world, and she has successfully established herself as a super-cool club DJ with slots at Fabric, the Custard Factory, Oxygen Festival and Ibiza’s Amnesia. You guessed it my friends, it’s the Queen of the Mash-Up, Annie Mac, and she promises to bring the noise in her own inimitable fashion. What a ripper!
But we don’t just want to give you that now, oh no. As a final hurrah in the Union as we know it, there will also be a DJ set from those absolute monsters of dance music, the amazingly awesome Pendulum. For those who aren’t familiar with them (and there’s not very many of you), let us tell you that they are arguably the biggest act of their genre in the world, with a crossover appeal that attracts drum n bass, rock and mainstream music fans alike with their unique amalgamation of the accessible with the stupidly technical. Their debut album, Hold Your Colour, is one of the biggest-selling drum n bass albums of all time- spawning singles such as Slam and Tarantula- and showcased their talents as producers in their own right. However, they’re also famous for their remixes of other artists, most notably their storming version of Prodigy’s Voodoo People, which is a staple at both DnB and rock nights alike. New singles Propane Nightmares and Granite have given fans a tasty insight into their second full-length In Silico, released in May, and quite frankly, if their anything to go by, we’re in for a right royal treat.
To put it simply, this is going to be an unmissable last chance to get down to some dirty beats at the coolest night of term, so for the love of Spank, get those tickets quickly to avoid disappointment. Get your glowsticks at the ready my friends, it’s gonna be a heavy one…
