There’s a lot to get through with this message, so I’ll just get cracking… I've split this message into three sections: general, for Cov, and for Leam =)
We’re in the third week of our Feel Good campaign, providing practical hints and tips on how changes to a few simple things (such as diet, caffeine intake, sleep patterns, and water consumption) can have a massive difference in terms of your happiness and mental wellbeing.
This week is about healthy eating and drinking. You all know the deal in general: the food and drink you consume have a pretty big bearing on the way you feel, you’re your ability to take in information and revise. We’ve got info on what food is good for what things, and we’ll even be giving out some fruit and nuts to you’re your energy levels up… magic! Check our info boards in the library, and the webpages at warwicksu.com/feelgood to ensure you all get that Feel Good factor before summer rolls around.
Also, if you’re spending a lot of time on campus, take heed of the safety warning here.
Summer is the time for sport in Coventry, with running being the course of choice. This Sunday heralds the Coventry Half Marathon, which goes all through Cov, and even makes its way to campus. It’s too late to sign-up to the Half Marathon itself, but you can sign up to the “Mercia Mile” on the day, as long as you turn up before 9.15am. For more info (e.g. route), see coventryhalf.com — check this out, as you may find your way around blocked e.g. if you live on Charter Avenue. Go and cheer people on!
The Coventry Fun Run is still open for registration. It’s on Sunday 27th June (Sunday at the end of week 9), and you can run either for your own charity, or just fundraise for their central bank. If you want to take part in this 4-mile run, see coventryfunrun.co.uk for more info.
In June we kick off our UK open air theatre tour here in Jephson Gardens and consequently we are looking for stewards. In exchange for your time stewarding for one hour pre show and 30 minutes post, you can watch the show for free or if you prefer, come another night.
Dates are as follows: The Secret Garden — 2nd & 3rd June An Ideal Husband — 8th & 9th June Love in Shakespeare — 30th June
To register your interest in being one of our stewards please contact Jane, either by phone on 01926 430 307, or email jane@heartbreakproductions.co.uk.
If you live in Leam, it is likely that you have passed Christ Church Gardens without really appreciating/noticing what you are seeing. They’re the ones at the top of the Parade with tennis courts in, and is an isolated green spot in North Leam.
Warwick District Council want your views on improvements to the gardens. The survey ends on June 1st, and can be found here.
National Grid has informed the University that essential road works will take place on Stoneleigh Road from Monday 31 May for six weeks. Two-way temporary traffic lights will be in operation throughout the period of the road works and priority will be given to inbound/outbound traffic at peak times.
