Student Community Reps
The student community reps scheme, with 5 volunteers spread over the South Leam area, is run us here at Warwick Students' Union. They aim:
  • to create pride in the local neighbourhood and improve the local environment
  • to strengthen the relationship between Warwick students and the wider non-student community by acting as a two-way conduit for communication
  • to work with many different groups (the Students’ Union, resident groups, the police, other students, etc.) to best support students in the area with relevant advice

What do they do?

Our reps work with many different groups to support students in South Leam – both with information about security, housing, and the environment, and also by talking to them to find out any problems they are facing. This involves building constructive relationships with students in the area, and a generally practical and upbeat demeanour. This will culminate in the reps running a joint campaign towards the end of Term 2 on an important issue that has arisen from their findings.

They also dispel negative myths about students to the wider community, promoting the good work that students do (in volunteering, for example) at neighbourhood and community residents’ meetings.

Anyone who would like to be put in contact with their rep, who wants to provide feedback on, or who just has any general questions about our student community reps scheme should feel free to e-mail community@warwicksu.com for more info.

Complaints procedure
The University and Students' Union recognise that, from time to time, people external to the organisation may be dissatisfied or concerned with the way the students of the University have acted. In the first instance, it is worth talking to the individuals involved as they may be unaware of the extent or impact of their behaviour, and once informed can take appropriate measures to prevent it happening again.

Click here to see our document detailing which avenues you should go down to either make a complaint about a student, or submit feedback to the Students' Union/University.
