Council Tax

All Students who are in full time education are exempted from paying Council Tax. It does not matter whether they are living in an accommodation provided by the University or in a private accommodation. Private accommodation solely occupied by students is an exempted property. Council Tax is property based and not on an individual basis.

International Students who live with dependants who have come to UK with Tier 4 dependant visa are also exempted from paying Council Tax. If you receive a council tax bill, please contact the Student Advice Centre immediately.

Students who are in writing up period are also exempted from paying Council Tax. If your local council requires you pay Council tax then please contact the Student Advice Centre immediately.
