Academic Complaints
Academic problems can be dealt with informally but if you have a complaint that cannot be looked at under the Academic Appeals procedure, the Disciplinary procedure, the dignity at Work and Study procedure and is not a matter for academic judgement, then you can make a formal Academic Complaint. The procedure is straight forward; you take up the complaint with the relevant person in your department first.
If the outcome is unsatisfactory you can take the complaint to your Head of Department or equivalent and if you still do not get a satisfactory result you can write a letter to the Vice-Chancellor. The details are set out on the University website.
If you require help with making your complaint you can contact the Senior Tutor at the University or you can consult the Education Officer at the Students' Union or the Student Advice Centre.
